Reaching His Full Potential… Inspiration For Us All!

 by Kary Rogney

IMG_3374“I want to share with you a post that is written by my dear wife and beautiful bride, Kelly. She has poured out her passion and soul over the years to support our family in so many ways. And I’d like to thank her for her interest in sharing this touching thought with you…”

When you think of someone that you admire or someone that inspires you to live out the life God created you to live, what person in your life comes to mind? Think about it for a moment, stop what you’re doing right now and think about this, and narrow it to those that are living. I find this exercise in thought such a great opportunity to reflect and grow. We can gain such insight and wisdom from those in our lives that inspire us to live life with greater purpose.

Let me share with you someone who inspires me. His name is Zane, and he is my 8-year-old son. Zane has a belly laugh that can instantly warm the heart of anyone in his presence. Zane has the determination and perseverance that the rest of us dream of having in life. Zane has the curiosity of three “passionate” inventors put together. Zane was diagnosed with Autism at age 3 and continues to strive to accomplish the simplest of tasks that the rest of us don’t even give much thought to.

After much research and prayer we opted to change Zane’s nutrition/supplementation when he was 4 years old. God answered those prayers with beautiful outcomes and we continue to stay on that path. He has been such a trooper and willing partner in that process. When other children are eating birthday cake and ice cream, so often he smiles at the fresh apple that I have for him or any other alternative that I may have concocted.

I realize that without special intervention, Zane’s future is extremely limited. It has not been the diagnosis but the prognosis that has caused me sleepless nights. However, this year my husband and I found a center, in Massachusetts, that has a high level of success bringing children through their state of autism, helping families to understand and embrace their darling children (www.autismtreatment.com). The Autism Treatment Center, which runs The Son-Rise Program, is not a direct miracle, but it is a door we’ve been praying God would open in order to provide a process to a miracle.

We have been running a Son-Rise Program for a little under a year now and we know God has answered our prayers with the positive impact it has had on Zane’s development. I have so much respect and admiration for who Zane is. Through this process I have come to a greater understanding that we all are doing the best we can with the beliefs and knowledge we hold, and through providing new opportunities and knowledge we can make a choice to change if we want to. Zane has personally chosen to change in so many ways and courageously is on his journey reaching his full potential. He inspires me to change and reach my full potential.

My husband and I have chosen a path less traveled with providing unique nutritional interventions, homeschooling and running a Son Rise Program for our son. Without Zane’s uniqueness in my life I would have missed out on so much joy and victory. I admire how determined Zane is to finish a task and the focus he has for his passions. God’s creation, plan and love continue to leave me in awe.

What I have learned through my training with Son Rise has opened doors of understanding and growth for our entire family. I have attended two separate trainings at the Autism Treatment Center of America and in October we are planning for an outreach here at our home with a trained Son Rise Family Instructor. In order for us to accomplish this we need to raise funds totaling $3000. It is not my intention to place you in an awkward position, and I assure you that I fully understand and respect the fact that you may not be able to help. However, if you or someone you know can, we will be grateful.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call (541.665.0171). I would not ask this favor if it were for me, but my love for Zane compels me to humble myself and ask, completely trusting the Lord to provide as He sees fit. Thanks for reading my post, praying for Zane, and any financial help you might be able to provide.

May Zane’s story encourage you today to live with a greater purpose, determination and ability to reach your full-potential.

With Sincere thanks, Kelly Rogney

“If you’d do me a favor and give us your thoughts and comments and Retweets, it would be very much appreciated. We know that many of you either have children yourself or know friends or family members who have a child impacted by Autism. In fact 1 in 150 children right now in America are identified with Autism. The word of ‘Hope’ must get out to encourage parents that there are things that are getting good results for these fragile kids. Thank you for your support and prayers. You’ll never know how much they mean to us.” Kary

*As of October 27th, we’ve humbly accepted $1,084 in donations for Zane’s SonRise program! Our goal is to reach $4,000 so my wife and I can attend two more trainings to improve our in-home program. Thank you so much!

    Kary,
I had no idea that your boy had Autism. Thank you and and your wife for sharing this with us. As a father of a 17 month old son I am currently agonizing over the vaccinations he has to go through since we really don't know what effect they have on the onset of autism.

I really respect and appreciate your leadership my friend. You and your family will definitely be in our prayers.

To all those who will read these comments please be sure to open wallet as you open your heart and donate whatever the Lord places within you to donate.

    Your friend,

    John

This is a great post, Kary, thank you for sharing it. You and your wife could have used your son's condition as a way to evangelize how cruel life can be. Instead, you've decided to turn the situation around and make it a very positive and uplifting one. This is a great example of taking control of a situation rather than letting it control you, and a great example of how what you think makes all the difference in what you experience.

Thank you for this heart felt story of your son Zane, and thank you for honoring God in your situation. I applaud you and thank you for taking this step forward. I am not able to contribute right now, due to financial hardships, but I pray that our God will provide and make a way for the care of your son. God Bless. Lois

    Hi Kary & Family

It is truly amzing the new friendships and relationships that I have been able to develop thru this new venture..”social media marketing”, and I consider you one of those…

Thanks to your good wife for putting her feelings on paper and shareing them with us,(had she not shared we would not know and could not help)so that we can pray for you (we serve a Great God) and also help you in carry your load…It is so encouraging to hear the way you have chosen to deal with this and finding God's blessing thru it all…God never asks anything of us that He does not also provide the needed grace and strength to carry thru…and you have claimed that…good for you…

Keep up the courage…God has more and greater work and rewards for you…!!

Love, Prayer & Blessings be yours,
    Paul

Kelly & Kary: Thank-you for sharing your heartfelt story concerning Zane's journey with life and Autism.
All three of you are leaders, examples, and mentors in “Turning lemons into lemonade,” as Dr Schuller would say!

“Reaching your Potential” is one of the greatest lessons that our Creator has laid before us and your family, along with His angels are reaching out to take the hands of others, on this road less traveled.

Kary, from knowing you, I can say that you are one of the most GIVING people whom I have ever met and Your Heart is Felt and the Harvest is Full!

I shall keep you all, in my prayers and help to spread the word about your program and future needs.

    Your friend,

    Linda.

    Kary,

It was really great hearing from your wife. She sounds like an awesome person to know! I'm sure the challenges your family faces can get very “daily” and wearing. It is obvious that she has experienced what it is like to mount up with wings like an eagle on the winds of adversity. It's a strength beyond her own. Thank you for introducing us to Kelly and Zane. Your son is here for a good reason, and he has so much inspiration to offer us. I appreciate Kelly sharing her valuable insights.

    Kary and Kelly,

What an inspiring story. Thank you both for sharing that.

Your approach, attitudes, and characteristics in this process shows passion and determination in every word of your text that you shared today. It reflects leadership, love, and an unstoppable desire to change.

You both sounds like two magnificent parents and truly, that is a privilege itself for anyone growing up.

I wish you the VERY best of joy and wonderful progress with your son Zane.

Kary, so glad you and your wife shared this story. I am glad that you have gone the nutritional route in order to help your son Zane. It is amazing what supplementation and detox can do for autistic children. The programs you have found sound very interesting and supportive. I pray that God will continue to bless you abundantly and help Zane to reach his full potential.

Autism should make everyone do their own research to decide if the want to give their child vaccinations. It is such an unknown as to whether these contribute to this condition. I just do not understand what else could have caused this rise in Autism over the last few decades.

I pray that we will have answers to the cause in the near future.

    God bless you, Beth

Kary & Kelly – Thank you so much for sharing – your family is such a great inspiration. It reminds me of a quote I really liked “Life is like a tennis match. You have no control how the ball is comming at you, it is how you return the ball that counts….. “
I will definitely share your story – - thank you and a warm hello from Germany…from the SM-Group

    Hey Jason,
Thanks so much for your encouragement and time. We have so many opportunities to make choices in our lifetime. Choosing happiness and taking the bull by the horns in life is what we are meant to do… not sit around and complain and blame other people for our situations.

It's great getting to know you as well.

    Kary and Kelly,

Wow, I admire the both of you more than you know :) I used to work with autistic children when I was in college (for about 2 years) and I understand the hardship that you and your family are going through. Zane is a very special boy who came to this earth to teach us all very important lessons in patience, unconditional love, and acceptance. You are all in my thoughts and prayers :) And this is definitely getting 'retweeted'!

    Katie :)

    Thanks Katie,
We really appreciate your kindness and understanding, as one who has worked with these special children. Your leadership and giving spirit inspire so many to accomplish great things and push through barriers to create internal personal success first. We know that financially that will only come as we defeat the “giants” in our path and help others to do the same.
    Love your friendship, Katie.
    Blessings,
    Kary

Hi Kary & Kelly and Zane, that was a Powerful and Inspiring story about Zane, it truly touched my heart
and you can bet that he will be put on our Prayer list at church. I can't even imagine how much work that
you guys have to do each and every day but I KNOW that God will give you the strength to do it. Zane

get Zane the help that he needs, however I will have to wait until I get paid. This has been a tough year
for me and my family financially but I am gonna get with my wife Angie and have her read Zane's story
because she is a PE teacher at MWISD for kindergarten & 1st grade! She just absolutely LOVES her job
and is always coming home telling me about a special student like Zane and how much she adores them!
Thanks for sharing this Amazing story with us! Be Blessed

Kary, This is the first time I visited your blog. Wow, what a heart felt post. I just want to say times are good, time couldn't be better even when it's at its worst. I know kids who face adversity ranging through various illnesses, but those kids have so much heart I never get a chance to feel sorry for them.

So, Kary, if you still need help, as I'm seeing you posted this on September 26th, message me at facebook.com/citysylvester with the exact amount and I will see what I can do.

Sorry I am on a fixed income and can not donate but I can give you moral support. I have a son who is mentally challenged. He is actual 44 but mentally 16. They told us he would never walk, talk, etc. But with a family of brothers and sisters and a widowed single father he is a productive citizen. When you meet him you would not know of his challenge. You can do it with support. BTW he is one of 7 I raised, mother died over 35 years ago. Never give up the dream. Best of luck.

Raising my 2 sons as a single mother has been one of the most challenging and completely rewarding experiences of my life…one that continues to teach me more valuable life lessons and bring me greater joy than anything else – ever. Our children are blessings beyond measure!

Kelly, it’s great to meet you, and no surprise to find that Mrs. Kary Rogney is a loving, giving, eternal optimist! Your story is a testimony to the beauty of the human spirit; rather than dwelling on the difficulty of your family’s situation you’ve embraced it, welcomed the opportunity to make the world a bit richer as a result, and opened your hearts to God.

Kary, in the short time I’ve known you I’ve been astounded by the sheer volume of what you’ve taken on in addition to being an awesome dad and teacher (and I’m sure, husband as well…). Your sincere desire to help others and give endlessly of your valuable time are a blessing to us all.

It takes great humility for a giver such as yourself to ask for help, and I’m honored to have the chance to in some small way make your life a bit richer. My thoughts and prayers are with you all…

    Kelly and Kary,
You know it’s a funny thing. Here we all are in business right? And yet, when I navigate to the blog of a new contact because I admire and respect him as an entrepreneur that I can learn a lot from, I find myself sitting in quite solitude with tears running down my face.

Certainly not tears of sadness, but not tears of joy either. Something different. As I sit here looking for the right word, it is ‘community’ that keeps popping up.

Kelly, your words were beautiful and touching and inspiring. And Zane is a handsome little guy in very good hands.

And to the rest of you – thank you for getting my day off to a wonderful start! Yes, we’re all business people, but I am most grateful to be a part of a community that I can’t say enough good things about. You all ROCK!

I see I’m a bit late for the party, but are we still raising funds? I would love to help.
