I Was Given A Million Dollars… This Is How It’s Changed My Life

December 27th, 2009 by Kary Rogney

hour_glass_and_moneySo the alarm rattled my brain this morning at 5am, and I laid there wrestling with my mind over whether I wanted to get up and start my day or not… I was a year older today and had several things running through my mind.

Then I remembered a chat I had had with my wife Kelly not too long ago…

Dream Or Reality?

“…I was visualizing myself walking quickly and silently past my boys’ bedroom on my way to the front door. The morning heat was kicking on in the house and the cool, fresh air hit my face as I reached down for the large sack on my outside front step… A huge smile stretched across my face.

I opened the sack and thumbed through it. It was all there. My daily allowance of $10,000!

The stipulations on the enclosed note said that over the next 100 days I would be receiving a sack like this each day, but the money not spent or utilized by the end of the day would disappear, never to be seen again. And depending on how I did, I might be granted an extension on this offer…

Excitement rushed through my veins as I made my plans for this day and the days to come… Not wanting to miss out on any opportunity to get out there and do good for my family and the world with these precious resources…”

Did you know that this happens every day at my house? Although it’s not literally $10,000 sitting there on my porch, I do have around 18 hours of wake time or 1,080 minutes or 64,800 seconds in each day to take action with. That’s $9.26 per minute or $.15 per second (if I did my math right in this analogy).

We can either choose to “spend” that time with positive thoughts and empowering actions or not to. It ultimately comes down to the BIG QUESTION… “How do I “spend” my time?”

One thing is for sure, we are not ever able to retrieve the time that has passed… much like the money that is spent or squandered. The ‘Parable of the Talents’ (Matthew 25:14-30) in the Bible is one great source for this understanding, too.

We all have precious resources to be good stewards of, whether it be money, time, talent or even just life…

So much time is being spent by people worrying or being angry at the world… That won’t fix anything. If anything, it will only perpetuate these beliefs and attempt to drag everyone down around them.

Let’s Ask Ourselves Some Tough Questions

How is your time spent? Is it vested in your eternity? Is it vested in the long-term well-being of your family or your wellness for a better quality of life? Don’t let your thoughts or beliefs hold you captive. Make a change now to look at life through a new lens. Embrace each day as a new blessing and be a blessing to others around you.

You know what will happen don’t you? You’ll become more happy and content… a content ness that brings peace to you and those around you. By living in each ‘moment’ and being ‘present’ you become more true to you and open to what life has to give back to you as well.

Looking back at our analogy… if after 100 days I maximized the resources I was given (i.e. $10,000 daily allowance) I could have invested a total of $1 million dollars… What kind of long-lasting affect might I have on those around me? Especially if I now have $1 million dollars invested in numerous ways?

Well, can you see how the same holds true with the way we ‘spend’ our time? Of course! And based on our actions we might even be entrusted with more in the long run, too!

Ultimately our decisions are based on a couple of simple things. We use discipline to accomplish our goals and to avoid pain and to use our time well. Or there can be the motivation of regret which brings pain based on not using our time well or making poor choices. What motivates you? Self-discipline or Regret?

36 Paths To Creating Powerful Joint Ventures Through Social Media

November 15th, 2009 by Kary Rogney

joint+venture+secretsThe other night I got off the phone with one of my online buddies…

The house was all dark and quiet and everyone was fast asleep. I was nowAMPED and WIDE awake because of the conversation I had just had.

I have to be honest with you… I keep getting ‘slapped’ upside the head with HUGE “Ah-ha!” moments, and feel that it is finally time I share with you and completely EXPOSE an online ‘wealth creator’ that not many people in social media talk about or even know exists…

And that is the JOINT VENTURE…

Now I know, I know. It doesn’t sound glamorous or exotic. And for most people those words sound too full of ‘business’ and ‘work’ and no fun. But the joint venture is far from that, and I’m going to share with you why!

About a year ago, when I first came online I was very blessed by some specialized knowledge and happened to tap into some GREAT MENTORING (Jonathan Bud) that led me to focusing on creating relationships and exposure in social media. Again, if it all sounds too simple, let me ask you this…

Of the people you are connected with on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, or your blog, how many of them have you actually talked to on the phone or Skype? And how many have called you, not to pitch or sell you on anything, but to join you in business, as a partner, or want your mentoring?

There is a reason that most people aren’t seeing any success online, because they are doing social media marketing ALL WRONG!! And I know most people actually KNOW this information, but don’t APPLY this knowledge effectively or persistently…

Boiled down… you want to Educate, Enlighten, Entertain, Encourage, and Inspire people with your messages and videos. (Katie Freiling is a perfect example of this.) If you are doing this, you will ‘attract’ and ‘draw’ people to YOU like bees to honey! If you don’t make these changes, you won’t have a chance to succeed in the social media arena. That’s just the plain TRUTH…

The reason I’m sharing this with you today is because a Joint Venture will never have a chance of surfacing if you don’t bring ‘value’ to the world you are engaging!

meeting online

So let’s get into some examples and details of what can be done to encourage people to KNOW, LIKE, AND TRUST you and ultimately want to learn from, join, or partner with you in business.

  1. Relationship Building: Remember it’s about keeping the focus on others, asking questions, and listening for their Strengths, Interests, Goals, and Needs (SIGN). I like to visualize a spot light on them, keeping it off of me. People love to talk about themselves, and you will be thought of fondly by them as a great conversationalist.
  2. Earning Trust: The fastest way to lose this is to be ‘pitching’ your gig to them right out of the gate. Approach people in a support role. Give, give, give…
  3. Building Value: Ninety percent of your messages and content need to be of value to your audience. Ten percent or less should be based around promoting some sort of product or service you market. Be careful in the way you do this though… Create the promotion around a question or open ended thought.
  4. Be A Good Communicator: Be clear and concise. Focus on what your audience would be interested in. Look directly into the camera lens if using video. They are asking themselves, “What’s in it for me?” as they engage you, too.
  5. Use Social Media Strategies: Leverage the power of the social media sites. That is take advantage of the massive amount of traffic there. Get training from those with proven results in this arena.
  6. Use Tools And Systems: Putting these together will maximize your results online. Make sure you have the ability to capture leads, follow up with them, and create more exposure for yourself. There are many such tools and systems to choose from…
  7. Create A Blog: By far the most powerful strategy to have today in marketing is a personal WordPress blog. This is your ‘home’, the place where you can invite your new friend to learn everything about you. This is where you are able to build your personal brand and share your knowledge and personality with the world.
  8. Create Social Proof: People want to see who you are connected with. They ask themselves, “Are people interested in your content?” People won’t spend much time on a site that looks like a ghost town. That’s why your relationships are SO important!
  9. Promote Others: Get out there and ReTweet great content on blogs, comment on them, promote and tag people on Facebook, create a Facebook Fan Page that helps support others and their ability to self promote, ‘buzz’ other people’s content on Twitter with a genuine “shout out” about something of value that someone you want to know has created, etc…
  10. Be Transparent And Authentic: Don’t just talk marketing and MLM… that isn’t who you REALLY are! Connect everything to a personal experience or story that people can relate to.
  11. Show Your Personal Side: Tell stories about struggles, victories, family life, hobbies, interests, dreams, goals, passions… just typing these words gets me excited!
  12. Use Video: This is the one medium that lets people see into your soul, connecting with the real person you are. Text and emails can’t come close to making a genuine first impression like video can. Send personal video messages on Facebook. I can’t tell you how many people have flipped out and told me how awesome it was to receive a video message from me. And that I was the first person to ever do that. And that they were going to start doing the same…
  13. Offer A Mentoring Program: Believe it or not. You are most likely ready to do this now… Let me explain. Would you say that you probably know more than most people about marketing online? Because you’re here right now, I’m assuming you’re swimming in the same waters with people that have taught you a lot about this topic. Now you can take that to the next level. Create your blog and offer mentoring. Put a PayPal button on there and away you go. Here’s a post that shares how to do that and how to brainstorm a niche for mentoring.
  14. Promote Your “Tribe”: Find people who offer high-value content and promote them on the social media sites and on their blog. An amazing thing will happen. They will reciprocate and you will reap HUGE REWARDS for this philosophy.
  15. Engage People Everywhere: Show appreciation, comment on interesting ideas, ask questions, relate what you read to your own stories and get people to think and respond back to you… This is what creates the magnetic effect with people who GET THIS!! Start doing this immediately!
  16. Refer People To Others (Be A ‘Connector’): Maybe it’s not a match for you to work with someone you know, but you just met someone else who would be… Connect them up. You’ll be amazed at what will come back to you when you GIVE UNCONDITIONALLY!

Here are Five Powerful Laws Of Stratospheric Success (From The Go-Giver Book) to consider…

  • The Law Of Value: Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.
  • The Law Of Compensation: Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.
  • The Law Of Influence: Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first.
  • The Law Of Authenticity: The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.
  • The Law Of Receptivity: The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.

These ideas have been some of the most influential concepts that have shaped the way I do business and relate to people.

So now that you have 100′s or 1,000′s of more meaningful, ‘connected’ relationships, you now have an incredible asset to work with. Obviously growing your list of subscribers fits in here as well… because you can continue to communicate to them at will ’til the end of time. And they will be VERY responsive if you follow the lessons outlined above!

The whole time you were developing those relationships it was like putting money into the bank. When it comes time to request a withdrawal, you’ll have EARNED that opportunity.

Is this all starting to make sense???

But you haven’t even seen the FUN part! The part where you can create a significant income while having fun with these new friends…

Here is a significant list of the many creative and lucrative ventures you can develop:

  1. Host Webinars (Free or Paid): This will still lead people to your information, products, or services.
  2. Create Info Products: DVD’s, CD’s, eBooks, Membership Site. Too many people don’t think they have enough value to bring to the table. But THAT IS A FREAKING LIE YOU NEED TO QUIT TELLING YOURSELF!
  3. Form A Tribe Or Content Syndication Partnership:
  4. Create A Team Around A Network Marketing Product: Delegate marketing duties based on strengths; PPC, video, blogging, contacts, list building, social media, etc…
  5. Cross Promote Each Others Products/Services:
  6. Create Your Own Affiliate Programs For Information, Products, Or Services: Enlist your friends to help you with content, exposure, and marketing. Share the profits.
  7. Become Affiliates To Each Others Stuff:
  8. Create A Blog Together: Share or rotate the leads, rotate submitting content, build an SEO strategy together…
  9. Create A Marketing Co-Op: Generate and share leads with Pay-Per-Click (PPC), share costs of programs like GoToWebinar or things that have a monthly cost.
  10. Create An Exclusive Ning.com Community: Post exclusive information, videos, and discussions…
  11. Form A Support Network: The goal is to help each other succeed. Through this many great ideas for partnerships surface.
  12. Start A ‘Power Hour’: Carve out one hour per week where you meet on Skype and jump from blog to blog, commenting, retweeting, and submitting posts to social bookmarking sites…
  13. Be A Guest Writer On Someone Else’s Blog: Approach a highly trafficked blog owner, and ask them if it would be possible to submit a guest blog post. This would be considered your most incredible content. Yes, your best! Give it away! So you can get exposure with your best ideas out there…
  14. Invite Other Top Bloggers To Submit A Guest Blog Post To Your Site: Go for it! You never know, after you’ve put some time into developing the relationship, they may just say yes! Wahoo!
  15. Interview Others: Find experts in niche markets that may be of interest to your friends and followers of your blog. You can also create a CD offer or bonus offer with that content.
  16. Offer To Be Interviewed: Many bloggers will jump at the chance to host an interview with you if you offer great value in your content.

…and there are many, many more ideas I’m sure. Please add yours in the comment section below.

Like I’ve shared in the past about monetizing your blog… you now have the tools to go out and monetize the relationships you have built.

HERE’S WHAT MY RESULTS HAVE BEEN WITH THIS KNOWLEDGE…

I launched my blog 3 months ago, and last month I had 9 people join me in my main business opportunity (with a half dozen more sitting on the fence ready to jump in any day), I’m part of a leadership team launching a NEW company right now, I’m personally mentoring 4 new people on a weekly basis, my ‘core’ tribe is launching a webinar training series on Marketing With Tribes, information products are being created, advanced mentoring programs are being established, membership sites are being co-created, exclusive affiliate programs are being launched, and several other things I’m not at liberty to talk about…

I’m sharing this not to BRAG or SHOW OFF… but to encourage you. YOU CAN DO THIS, TOO!

If this is a new idea for you and you’re new to online marketing, I have an ‘Encouraging Message’ for you here as well.

And really… what are you waiting for?

success

Let me share with you how I would get started on this grand adventure…

  1. Make sure and subscribe to several marketing professionals’ newsletters. After a while the cream will rise to the surface and you’ll truly know who offers the best information on the web for getting the job done!
  2. Connect with the marketing geniuses that you admire. Engage them with questions. Probe them for gold nuggets of information. Better yet invest in your own personal growth and training to hone your skills in this unique industry.
  3. Get personal one-on-one mentoring. I know for a fact that the people I’ve been mentored by or the people I personally mentor get a MILLION TIMES more accomplished because of the accountability and personal attention received. Duh… that’s why the world’s best athletes and musicians all have personal coaches, trainers, or teachers!
  4. I’d love to hear form you on my blog and on the social media sites. Look me up and let me know how things are going for you AFTER you start taking MASSIVE action on this information today.

I wish for you the best and all that life has to offer. It’s ALL IN YOUR HANDS NOW. What people do with this kind of knowledge is what separates the 97% from the 3% out there. Which will you be?

Kary Rogney

PS And finally, I have to thank Jonathan Budd for all that he’s done to help train and support me in my online adventure!

And btw, I always appreciate the ReTweet. And let’s drive down the conversation and ideas on this post. Ask questions and let your voice be heard. It’s all about engaging and interacting. Why not start here for a warm up?

Well, you’re sitting on the ‘blueprint’ to build your dynasty and to leave your powerful mark and legacy behind for future generations. What direction will your life go now?

I look forward to getting to know you soon, my friends…

The Go-Giver Book

June 30th, 2009 by Kary Rogney

Day 1buythebook

Hello My Friends,

Kary here. I want to invite you to go through a book with me that I am going to re-read. You too may have read it before… The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann.

You may be asking… why, what’s the big deal about this book. Well, I hope you see as we get into it or as you grab your owncopy.

This book is one of my TRUE INSPIRATIONS for how I conduct myself in many aspects of the way I live my life. While many times I fail, I know that by revisiting and practicing the reshaping of my mind I will get to a point where I’m  experiencing more joy, success, and happiness. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Inside the jacket says…

“Most people just laugh when they hear that the secret to success is giving…. Then again, most people are nowhere near as successful as they wish they were.”

The Go-Giver tells the story of an ambitious young man named Joe who yearns for success. Joe is a true go-getter, though sometimes he feels as if the harder and faster he works, the further away his goals seem to be. And so one day, desperate to land a key sale a the end of a bad quarter, he seeks advice from the enigmatic Pindar, a legendary consultant referred to by his many devotees simply as the Chairman.

And it continues…

Please go to the http://www.thegogiver.com to learn more.

_________________________________________________________

Blog 2: Chapter 1 & 2

First, you can go (here) and read the first chapter for F*REE if you want. I know you’ll be happy you did.

I love the start of the book where Joe “the go-getter” thinks he’s going to get some ‘inside’ info from “the chairman” and is shocked when he is invited to his house on a Saturday.

I also like how all the characters seem to know something ‘more’ about what is happening to Joe than he does. It’s like they are setting him up for success…

On page ten I like how Pindar meets Joe on the steps and thanks Joe for meeting with him…

“Joe returned a somewhat bewildered smile of his own and wondered, “Why is he thanking me?””

This is a great quote too.

“Typically, the more successful they are, the more willing they are to share their secrets with others.” (About Successful People)

Boy have I seen that to be true! By sharing that knowledge it attracts incredible people to you and blesses you back in a variety of ways.

This is a profound concept on page 13…

“Pindar smiled. “Please don’t misunderstand me. There’s nothing wrong with making money. Lots of it, in fact. It’s just not a goal that will make you successful.””

I guess I had never really thought of business and making money this way. When we truly get the ‘money’ thing out of the way, it opens up our ability to care for others, put their needs first, help them to get what they want in life, then we will be in turn taken care of as it all rolls out.

How about these quotes on pages 15?

“…you often don’t get what you want. But,” he leaned forward again and his voice grew softer with emphasis, “here’s what you do get— You get what you expect.””

“In other words, what you focus on is what you get… Ultimately, the world treats you more or less the way you expect to be treated.”

What are your thoughts on these excerpts?

Next time we’ll unveil Pindar’s first of his Five Laws that are his ‘Trade Secret.’

Until then my friends. Make someone else’ day special.

Kary

PS I received this from one of my friends…

Blog 3: Chapter 3

Hello My Friends,!

Yes, I’m back. And no, I’m not that slow of a reader! Just finding a few minutes to shoot this update out to you…

Wow, life just got really busy lately. Hope you had a great week. I sure did…

On to the book!!…

So it’s Monday and Joe is at Pindar’s house wondering what he’s going to learn in regards to this whole “giving” business and whether the Trade secret would contain anything that would help him.

I like Joe’s thoughts… “The guy radiates success, …It’s not just money, it’s something far more powerful than money.”

Have you met those types of people? There is something amazing about them. You want to always be around them. Would you call that ‘attraction marketing’? I would…

So they are meeting with Ernesto, the real estate magnate and I liked this comment by Pindar to Joe.

“A very useful thing to remember: appearances can be deceiving…. Truth is, they nearly always are.”

There are many ways to remember this: don’t judge a book by it’s cover, don’t prejudge people, etc…

A tip from Ernesto…

“Everyone likes to be appreciated.”

“And that’s the Golden Rule of business,” added Pindar. “All things being equal…”

Ernesto finished the phrase:”…people will do business with and refer business to those people they know, like and trust.”

The Law of Value: “Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value that you take in payment.”

“The first question should be, ‘Does it serve? Does it add value to others?’ If the answer to that question is yes, then you can go ahead and ask, ‘Does it make money?’”

Why do you give?

“Because you love to. It’s not a strategy, it’s a way of life. And when you do,” he added with a big grin, “then very, veryprofita ble things begin to happen.”

Now, my challenge to myself is to go out and do exactly that! Let me know your thoughts.

Wishing you all the best!

Kary Rogney

Blog 4: Chapter 4

Hello Again My Friends,

Well, I’m back yet again with another snapshot of my walk through the book, The Go-Giver, by Burg and Mann.

Let’s jump in—

“So far these Five Laws of Stratospheric Success sounded like something Joe might more likely have picked up from Mr. Rogers than from Warren Buffett.

—You give, give, give. Why? Because you love to. It’s not a strategy, it’s a way of life.— He pondered these thoughts.

Even through this he is still struggling with the stress of feeling that he needs clout and leverage— his third quarter quota is hanging over his head like a lead balloon.

He also wants to continue his week learning from Pindar, and in order to do so there is the ‘condition.’ He must apply the Law of Value before their next meeting.

Joe receives a call and gets the news that a big account is not going to go with him. Swallowing his pride he refers another person, his competition, that he feels would be in a better position to help them.

“He clicked off the phone, set it on his desk and stared at it, lost in disbelief at what he’d just done.”

I guess the big question is, do we do these things like Joe just did, not expecting anything in return? And are we ‘pure’ in our intentions, knowing that we just added Value to that relationship.

How amazing would our world be if we ALL focused on adding value to lives around us over giving in to our own selfish desires?

Just so you know, I am writing this up for my own selfish reasons. By putting this down into words. It is forcing me to analyze my own life and thinking.

Thanks for being my sounding board.

Blessings,

Kary Rogney
